You will have many choices available, in the sites you prefer to see, accommodations and the proximity to a coastal area or a beach. Finding a suitable package is not the main challenge. It is in finding one that is affordable. There are a couple ways to find such packages at a discount.
If you book a car rental, you may also be offered an additional sightseeing package at a discount. If the sites you want to see do not take you off the main roads, you have already won half the battle, by having available transportation. Many travel agents can book such packages for you in advance, when they book your airline reservations, hotel room and car rental. Another way to get a discount is to ask the hotel where you are staying. Most desk clerks or managers know which packages will be more suitable for different types of guests.
Because there are different options in a Caribbean tour, you must decide which types best suit your needs. Some include quite a bit of physical activity, such as backpacking and hiking. Others focus on water activities, such as kayaking or sailing. Much of what you select depends on what you prefer to do in such tropical climates. Make sure you have a knowledgeable captain, if you are selecting a package that includes many boating activities. A good captain will know the waters in the area and how to keep passengers safe.
If you are interested in snorkeling or diving, you may want to consider taking some lessons in advance. Not knowing about techniques ahead of time can take away the fun of viewing all the sea life you will come across. It can also put your safety in jeopardy. If you simply want to do some shallow water snorkeling, you will probably not need lessons in advance.
For those who simply want to enjoy the sun, sand and the crystal blue and green waters, some packages may offer fun activities, such as beach parties or barbecues and many social events. These can be as costly as other packages, depending on the type of arrangements made for food and drinks. It pays to search the internet and call a travel agent, when you want one of these packages for your next vacation. There are many competing packages on the various islands.
